The Institute of Applied Biochemistry was establised in 1973 by merging Department of Agricultural Chemistry, Department of Biochemical Engineering and Laboratory of Wood Hydrolysis and Fermentation in the old Tokyo University of education. The Institute represents a wide spectrum of research interests, including Environmental Biochemistry, Applied Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biochemical Engineering.
Faculty members have their research topics and educational programs in undergraduate and graduate schools (master's degree-program and doctoral degree-program). Some of the members are engaged in research or service activities in some special research centers or laboratory of the University.
